I found this on an RJ teacher's blog. It's about the things teachers write in our uni recs:
We have our ways of getting back at you …: not through grades, but certainly through university recommendations, testimonials, progress reports, recommendations for scholarships, college awards, and internships, and rankings.
So-and-so is bright, but lacks intellectual curiosity and thus would not benefit from a Harvard / Yale / Dartmouth education. Moreover, s/he comes across as manipulative, selfish, and a grade-grubber.
Alas, so-and-so fits the stereotype of the elitist and arrogant Rafflesian very snugly. Every conversation I've had with him / her has shown this to be true. For example...
So-and-so has demonstrated an appetite for hard work, but little more than that.

Friends! As you know, it has been pouring almost every day recently; only today did the rain finally let up. As the Met Service advises, for the following fortnight, "widespread showers with gusty winds are expected on 2 to 3 days. In addition, short-duration thundery showers, mostly occurring in the afternoon are also likely on 7 to 9 days." Ergo those who have morning papers next week might wish to bring some study materials for the next subject to school in case a downpour traps us in school.
